Music To My Ears- by Mom

Makail flew to Ventura, CA today.  We talked to her on a conference call.  Brandon and I were at work. Boston and Sydney were at school. I said hello and there followed at least a one minute introduction in Spanish.  It was fun to just hear her voice.  She sounded very...well like Makail.  She was excited to be going forward on her mission.  Hermana Westman and Perry were both serving in another mission in CA.  She was the only Hermana traveling to Ventura.  She said that the Elders were standing right by her the entire phone call. It was reassuring for us to know she wasn't by herself.  She told us about leaving behind a lot of stuff.  Which she hopes can be mailed to her by Her. Schultz.  Her. Schultz was to fly out on Wed.  to Bolivia.  She has a confirmed case of pneumonia and has been delayed at least a week in the MTC for treatment.  Makail said there were several Elders who have also suffered a similar fate.  It sounds like an epidemic has hit the MTC.

Makail's cold was much better. The Hermana's from her district got up and gave her a hug goodbye and went back to bed.  She was trying to get all of her suitcases and bags to the travel office.  She soon realized that she wasn't going to be able to do it all by herself. When her prayers were answered by the Elders from her district, who had gotten up to say goodbye and help her to the travel office.  She was so very grateful for that tender mercy.

I could have just listened to her voice for hours. The time to say goodbye came all to soon.  The I love you's came and went and soon there was only quiet on the line.  I realized that it was so much better to say goodbye this time.  She's busy, happy, well and adjusted.  Perfect!  Our silver lining is she will fly to Argentina. So hopefully, we get to talk again soon.

After talking with Makail the mom's started texting back and forth.  I found out that Hermana Dennis had a 5 hour lay over in Atlanta, GA on her way to Argentina.  That everyone whose last name fell into the first of the alphabet got their Visa's and the end of the alphabet didn't get their's.  Hermana Schultz got to call home because of her illness and delay in her travel plans.  (Makail was very concerned about Hermana Schultz when we talked with her on the phone.  She said that she had been up all night coughing and couldn't sleep.) When she went to the Dr. today he told her pneumonia would keep her in the MTC. Sister Westman and Perry are serving in the San Fernando CA mission together.  The two elder's from their district that didn't get their Visa's got sent to Rochester NY and Detroit, MI.  I hope that their Visa's come through soon so they don't freeze in their Argentine clothes.
