This week has been super crazy. I'll start with today because it's been the best P-day ever. My alarm went off at 5 so we could do laundry, which I turned off and then 20 minutes later realized that I'd fallen asleep again! I jumped out of bed and woke everyone up and we ran to do laundry. We still accomplished it, but instead of writing during laundry we got ready for the day. Then we went to the temple and did Initiatory because we didn't have a whole lot of time. We saw a kitty at the Temple which was kinda fun :) When we got done with all that we ran over to main campus and hustled to get all of our errands run and then our whole district came back to West Campus to go to lunch. We walked down to Brigham's Landing which we're allowed to go to on P-days and got Supreme Burgers (they were pretty awesome :) and we also got Jamba Juice or SubZero Ice cream depending on the Missionary. We had a great time together as a district in the "real world" for a few minutes. Then we came back and got stuff ready for the week...there is so much to do and so little time! I have had serious sewing I needed to catch up on and I didn't realize that it would take forever, so I'm sorry that the letter writing is slacking this week, I apologize. It is the last P-day before 6 of our missionaries leave (4 next Monday and 2 next Wednesday). The problem is that I don't know if it is going to be my last P-day because I didn't receive flight plans due to my visa not being granted. That was a bummer (see the rainy day picture, which the umbrella wasn't my idea, but it fit pretty well :). Anyway, I don't know if I'll get another P-day in the MTC, and that's a little Frustrating. I find out on Thursday/Friday, and I don't know if I'm allowed to email you about it. Oh, and another funny thing that happened today was Hermana Dennis wanted to use my dry shampoo because all of our hair had started to look a little old, and when she used it, it got way worse. The problem is that I thought it had been a good idea so I did the same thing...It's a good thing I suffered a little too because otherwise I think she would have killed me. It was pretty funny, but we both survived.
I got a cold last week and I've had a pretty bad cough. I had to go to the doctor because it's a possibility that I will get to fly next week, but there's nothing they can currently do for it. It was an interesting experience though. It's sorta getting better.
Last week, I have to admit, I was getting a little stir crazy. I was pretty much a little bit sick of having the same things every day and just the day to day living here at the MTC. Luckily, the District of Elders came to the rescue! We (the 5 Hermanas) got to go play sand volleyball with them. It was actually pretty fun :). We also played light-up frisbee with them until we got told that it was against the rules (oops!), afterwhich we just listened to their advice for us and then they gave us boxes of food they couldn't take with them. It was pretty great. I totally miss them already and they were all gone by yesterday morning. They are amazing people and they will make fantastic missionaries.
I met Elder Reese (Aunt Althea's grandson) in class the other day. His district had an activity with our district where we got to practice teaching each other things. I had the opportunity to talk to Elder Reese, and it was so fun :) His Spanish is coming along fine, and I think he's a little nervous, but I was glad that I could report that he's doing great, and now I know where he is. Elder Pudil is in the same district and he has been doing really well too. He got to teach me as a less active member, and his Spanish is very impressive. I was super proud :). I also ran into Hermana Paige Simpson from my Lacrosse team, and she's going to Washington DC (north?). I'll get pictures with her sometime :).
Our investigator Carlos is doing really well. We don't have the opportunity to teach him this week, but in our last lesson, we got him to stop drinking wine, which was really interesting. We got to be really good friends with him and sat by him at lunch once. He gave me a bunch of simple math puzzles, which made my day and made my companions tease me a bunch, but it was great.
So on Sunday, Hermana Dennis' always knowing people really paid off. We didn't go to choir, so we got on the very first bus. When we walked in, she saw President Callister of the General Sunday School Presidency and she said hello. Apparently he was her sister's Mission President and she'd met him before. As her companions we got to talk to them and take a picture, which was totally cool :) Then came the best part, we got to sit on the very front row center as their "friends/family/guests/support group". That was pretty great, as well as exciting. Hermana Dennis also got a shoutout during his talk, so we are definitely on the way up on the totally famous scale haha.
Hermana Schultz is still great, and she's excited about going to Bolivia, but she's stressing me out by not being stressed about packing. I think that it is just so funny how we work together. We're really alike in some ways, and maybe that's what makes us have a harder time getting along? I don't know. She's amazing though and her Spanish is coming along fantastically.
Well, sorry the emails just keep getting shorter, I think that I just start telling about different things. I hope you all have a spectacular week and know that Dios nos ama (God loves us :). The question I've been pondering this week is what I would do or say in my minute with Christ, like the Nephites had in 3 Nephi 11. I think it's a pretty great question, and something to think about. Thanks for all that you do and all the letters, emails, and support!
Love,
Hermana Swan
