Week 9 :)‏

Hola everyone!
Sorry if the letter's a little short today, I'm sending pics, but I'll send a real letter that my mom can put on my blog. Life's great :)

Awesome trainer Sister Eastman.

Spanish Speaking Missionaries of California Ventura Mission

more...even more...

So basically, we had to go to Santa Maria Family History Center to email. It's cool, but I think that we're going to eat lunch afterwards at a Mexican Restaurant that Hma Eastman knows.

We had a miracle this week, we went to a lesson with Maria and there was actually a member there from one of Hma Eastman's old wards named Victor there. He was super nice, and spoke beautiful Spanish. He and Maria made fast friends and then he stayed for our lesson and was super helpful. He helped explain the commandments and he was basically just the friend she needed to convince her to come to church. She committed to come and we got her a ride. Unfortunately, she left her house and the ride left her, so she didn't actually make it to church, but she will next week, I'm sure of it. I will someday speak Spanish as well as Victor, he served in Nicaragua, so he had the super fast pretty Spanish. I taught a lesson on the Restoration super successfully with Hma Eastman this week, it was Elicena and Raul. We actually shared the bulk of the teaching, which was good, because it meant that I was participating :) Some days are more of a struggle that others with the language. I really love the people though, and I can usually understand them, I just struggle with the response a bit. That was the other funny thing. When I told Victor that I was new, he only spoke to me in English, assuming that I didn't understand him....I did, but it was pretty funny, and he was trying to be nice in his own way, but I felt like I needed to speak more Spanish obviously if he thought I couldn't understand.... Anyway, sorry it's so crazy spastic this week.

One of our less active members came to our Book of Mormon class this week! Her name is Johana and she's been going to at least two different churches and a few different Bible classes. She's pretty cool, and she also sort of "accidentally" (miraculously) forgot we were coming and had two nonmember friends at our house that we got to teach at our weekly lesson. It was pretty great. I think that if we give her a calling in the Primary, she'll come to our actual ward (she's been coming to the church for a few weeks, just not our ward). Anyway, there's a lot of hope for her since I've gotten here :)

Sister Millar ( the cute 90 year old lady in one of the pictures) still rides her tractor around her lot. She bakes cookies on Wednesdays and we do a lot of service for her lately. I think she's adorable. She's also become one of the Visiting teachers to Sister Taft, one of the other awesome less active members that we have. Sister Taft is going to start working on her Personal Progress because she wants the ribbons :)

I could totally live here someday, we have a Trader Joe's not too far away, and it's become one of my favorite places to shop :)

Thanks for the letters and support, love you all!
Love,
Hermana Swan
