Hola familia y amigos (of course) Como estan?
This has been a good week of work and Oncativo is doing great. The difference between when I got here and now is striking. Now we have lots of work to do in Laguna Larga and lots to do here as well. I love being busy because it's hard to want to work and not have anything to do. Fast Sunday's here are cool and different. They fast after lunch on Saturday until lunch after church on Sunday. I like it alot especially since lunch is a bing awesome yummy meal. It would be a shame not to have it! Ha ha.
On Thursday we tried to make Sister Johnson's lemon bars. Sister Johnson is from Arroyo Garande. My other mission. We were so excited we went to Ninfa and all was going well until we burned the crust. We had already mixed the lemon part so we just poured all of it in and tried to cook the rest. Pour Ninfa probably just thought we were crazy americans with no idea with what we were doing. Pretty much spot on but, oh well. We offered to mop her floor. I asked her if she had a mop and she handed me one and so I started to use it...and dirty. Turns out that she handed me the outside patio mop. Embarassing. We fixed the problem and cleaned the floor. But it was funny. The lemon bars didn't turn out too bad. In fact the middle ones were almost perfect. They were really good, but ugly, so we didn't end up taking them to the member like we had planned. We just ate them!
Hermana Tuttle is starting a no pan ni dulce diet... I'm not ready to give them up yet. And I haven't gained that much weight...I hope.
We had our study desk invaded by ants this week. They were tiny but there were tons of them!! We took it as sign that we needed to clean and organize. When we got done all we wanted to do was start little projects. It was just like when I would clean my room at home. We still get ants now and again, but only if we leave something on the table. When the Hermanos came to fix our oven they told us that we win the prize for the cleanest pension. We mopped and cleaned while waiting for them. We have been pretty tidy of late. That made us pretty happy.
It's been pretty hot here lately. And poor Hma Tuttle doesn't handle it very well. We caught a collectivo to Laguna Larga. Luckily, it was only to there. (It could have been worse.) There were a lot of people on it and the air conditioning was broken. If I hadn't had my fan that my family sent me she probably would have had a come apart. And it's not even full blown summer here. Last night we had quite the lightning storm. Hma. Tuttle woke we us twice because she was worried about the window being open. Basically, she shut it herself, because apparently, I can't be reasoned with in the middle of the night.
Ohh on Saturday we got to go to a splash in Renacimiento it's where all the missionaries in the zone go to one area and knock almost every door. Hma Tuttle and I worked with an awesome member of the ward named Hermano Buyo. He told us stories and was super awesome to have while contacting. He has been in the church for three years. It was awesome to work in a different area. The only bad part was is that it was easily a 100 degrees. We got pretty sunburned but it was worth it.
For Christmas the church has made the new video "He is the Gift" or el es el dadiva. When Hma Tuttle got the cards we thought it was a full length Christmas video and we were so excited. When a member let us watch it we found out it is only 2 mins 20 secs long. It's good but what a let down. Ha Ha. At least we found out before we started lying to a whole bunch of people that there was a full length film. Hma Tuttle and I are going to restart our personal progress. We realize that it was a really good personal study reference. And that there were tons of things like ideas and projects that we can do. Plus, we get to help lots of the young women work on it, so we might as well. I'm actually excited and Hma Tuttle is thrilled. She loves it!
While the Hermanos were here fixing our oven. They also fixed our sink, our beds, our shower, our sink and got rid of the residue in the bathroom. They were so cool. Oh and they fixed our whisk too. Then they ate four of Hma Tuttles pancakes and bought us little ice creams. One of the Hermanos taught us a dice magic trick. And the other a game called enojarse "to get angry". Anyway, it's another hot day in Oncativo but it's been a fun P-day!
Love,
Hermana Swan
Our last zone meeting this transfer
The Splash team! :) Us with Hermano Buyo
Talk about delicious! This is one of my favorite facturas...It has apple down the middle with cinnamon and chocolate, and coconut flakes on the sides, which are kind of like a croissant. Let´s just say it´s fabulous!
Hermana Tuttle with a silly hat on :)
