Happy New Year! 12-30-14

Hola todos!

This week has been crazy! We had the Christmas party last Monday which was so cool with all of the missionaries together. It was so great to see my old MTC district together again! We were only missing two, but it was still awesome. Then on Tuesday we were in Oncativo, and Wednesday we headed back to Córdoba for district meeting. Everyone sang to Hermana Tuttle and gave her candy because it was her Birthday on Friday. On Christmas Eve, we got to go to Familia Sarmiento´s house and have a party with basically the whole ward. Presidente gave us permission to be out until 12:30 am and it was so late! As a missionary, you get used to your bedtime, so we were pretty much asleep on our feet by the time we got back to the pension. It was so fun though! There was tons of food, but like everyone else here in Argentina, they don´t start eating until 10 or later at night... We had Pollo Asado which is grilled chicken, pan, a potato salad and a few other things. Then after the dinner, they sit around and talk for an hour, and then they eat the dessert...there was so much food it was crazy. Basically, we ate a ton.

The next morning, CHRISTMAS! :D We both felt really sick. It was funny looking back on it, but not at the time. I got to open a stocking that Hermana Tuttle´s mom sent me (that was so awesome, thanks so much by the way! :) and eventually we got to go out and visit people, and talk to our families. That was fun! An hour is long enough to feel like you should have said more, but it was great to see a good amount of you guys for the Skype call! Thanks :)

Then it was Hermana Tuttle´s birthday at we had Exchanges with the Hermana Lideres (Sister Training Leaders). It was cool because we had a big lunch together and we got to eat watermelon because that´s pretty much all Hermana Tuttle wanted (she´s never had a summertime birthday before haha). Our district leader also bought us a kilo of Grido ice cream, so that´s what we had for her dessert. Then it rained a bunch! The road was a river! It was fun to spend time with Hermana Gonzalez from Mexico and I learned a lot. On Saturday one of our awesome members gave Hermana Tuttle a handmade cake....it was soooo good, and we´ve almost eaten all of it between the two of us. That´s slightly embarrassing, but hey, it was her birthday cake, right? It was pink and three layered with Chocolate, dulce de leche, vanilla with cherries, dulce de leche, chocolate chips, and another layer of chocolate cake and pink frosting all over the top. I´m still thinking about it it was so good!

Sorry, enough about food I guess... So this week I´ve learned something really cool from Hermana Tuttle. "And it came to pass". This phrase is so cool, and I´d never thought about it! Things come and things happen, but only once. We have to love them and enjoy them while they´re here and while their happening. Even the trials and the hard times, probably especially those times. Their the times we learn the most from. Thank Heaven we don´t have to go through some things twice, no?

I hope all of you have a fantastic New Year and I hope you can enjoy your parties and adventures, and remember that you only get one New Years this year...and it won´t ever be the same again. So enjoy every second of it!

Love you all,

Hermana Swan

Merry Christmas not really Eve anymore! (this is after all the food, just after the fireworks :)
