This week is crazy, as Hermana Tuttle will complete her 12th month in the mission! I complete 5 months too, and I can´t believe it at all. I´m going to stop keeping track because it´s depressing. Anyways, it´s been another great week here in hot and humid Argentina!
We had an epic Splash in Laguna Larga...and I also had an awesome faith-building experience. The morning of the Splash was exceptionally hot, and I prayed that we could get some rain or a storm so that we could survive walking all over the ciudad in the heat. I also prayed that this storm/rain wouldn´t affect the Splash. Well, all 20 ish of our Zone arrived and it looked like it was going to storm...but I said, "no, we can´t have rain, I talked to the Lord about it and we´re going to be able to have the Splash". We did! and as soon as everyone got to the terminal to catch their buses back to Córdoba, it POURED! It was awesome because then it cooled off a ton, and some of us could stand to try Argentine-style hot chocolate (the drink is called a submarine, because the chocolate is at the bottom and you have to stir it). Anyway, it was awesome, and we found a lot of really cool families and people for us to teach. None of them made it to church this week, but we´re making the first steps. Plus, I know that the Lord was listening to my prayers :)
I got my package this week! It´s awesome! Merry Christmas to us here in Argentina, just two steps behind the modern world it seems...Kidding! (well, on some levels, but overall, it´s just mission mail in general). Anyway, I have a bag that isn´t a shoulder bag, so my back doesn´t hurt =) Thanks Mom and everyone else who contributed to it! I didn´t know you could forget what M&Ms tasted like, but I had. I´m convinced that the food here allows your tastebuds to take a break and when I get back, their going to be so overwhelmed with the flavor! Sorry for the side track...
Back to what else happened this week: Rio Segundo, the area where our district leader is in had a baptism! It´s been quite a while since there has been a baptism there, like, years. They´re so happy and excited. We got to go and support, and finally meet all of the cute little members of their branch. It´s even smaller than ours and there is less priesthood. The man they baptized is so cool! His name is Saul. The missionaries found him, gave him a Book of Mormon like the next week, and he finished it in another week! Then he plowed through Gospel Principles the teaching manual, and is currently working on Liahonas and pretty much anything else the Elders can find to give him to read. It was way cool to see him get baptized, and to see the font! It basically is a little green box and they fill it with water! It´s portable, so that´s a nice feature. It´s way different here, but they did have facturas as the snack after the baptism, so that was fun :)
Basically, those are the highlights of our week. It´s been good, and todavía hard work. I´ve been reading a lot of good talks on realizing your potential, and on submitting your will to the Lord so that He can make you what He know you can be. I love a little bit of baja caña every once in a while...if you can find the talk the fourth missionary by Lawrence Ca...something, you should definitely read it and apply it to your own life :)
Hermana Tuttle has been driving me crazy this last week because she has found like a whole 5 pesos worth of coins just walking down the street. We walk right next to each other, and she´s always the one to find them. I just can´t figure it out! Maybe when I´m senior companion I´ll have the treasure-finding skills...I guess we´ll see :)
We have big hopes and dreams this week for all of our many new investigators, and I´ll have to keep you updated on how it goes. Thanks everyone for all you do, and I hope that you have a wonderful week (and that your New Year´s resolutions haven´t fallen through yet :)
Love to all,
